Worthy of Being Written
I’m utterly exhausted right now. My day has been… long, interesting, discouraging, somewhat frustrating, and just plain tiring. I got up around 8:00 a.m. to grab a shower and breakfast before being picked up at 8:55 a.m. by Dr. Kapic. I dropped Jonathan and Margot off at school with him, and then he dropped me off at his house to start yet another painting project.
I’ve been doing odd painting jobs for him throughout my time at Covenant. I painted their outside car port, an inside entry way and door, all the baseboards on the first and second floor (that was so boring), and a number of other touch-ups here and there. Today, I started my next project — an old window outside. I say “window,” and no doubt you’re thinking, “It’s a window. How hard can that be?” Well this is an old window… and it is a window with 30 (yes, thirty.. I counted) small panes of glass in it. It had been primered about a year ago but never painted. It was chipping and peeling all over the place, and the old caulking (essentially cement) was still there from the original installation.
I surveyed the project — not a big deal. It would take me a day to prepare the wood — remove the old caulking, chip off the old paint, sand it, and put new caulking around the 30 window panes. Then it might take me an additional two days to prime the wood and put two coats of gloss paint on it. Not a big deal.
I got out there this morning around 9:15 a.m. I grabbed a knife and a scraper to start removing the old caulking. I started with the first window pane… (more…)

Baker Tree Music Festival
Saturday was an incredible day! I wish I had had time to write about it then or at least yesterday, but this weekend has been busy writing three papers and studying for a test — all of which are due today (as of now, two papers are handed in and the test is done).
Every year in the spring semester, usually the week before finals, Covenant has a music and art festival called Baker Tree. It happened this past Saturday, and it was an incredible day! The stage was set up on the steps of the chapel, and tables and chairs were set up on the chapel lawn. It was sunny and beautiful for the majority of the day. The music started playing around noon. Various Covenant students that had signed up to play took turns playing favorite songs – songs ranging from jazz songs to “Imagine” by John Lennon… to “Come on Ilene” …to “Burn” by Usher (performed by our very own Director of Student Development, Scott Hwang) …and a ton of other awesome songs. It lasted all afternoon and evening. The dining services brought dinner out to the chapel lawn and grilled fresh burgers for us as all 1000 students (give or take :) stood in line. It was just amazing to hang out with students and faculty, kick soccer balls around, listen to incredible music, and just take a much-needed break from studying.
Brendan James came to perform in the chapel that evening too. He has his first record coming out in June, and no doubt, he’ll be big in the next year or so.

Dreaming About WY
It’s Saturday morning, and I should be writing two papers and studying for the test that I have on Monday… I can’t get my mind off of Wyoming. I keep day-dreaming about it. Less than three weeks and I’ll be flying out there.

Chorale Concert Tonight
Chorale and Chamber Singers have their big concert tonight in the chapel at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, and the music is going to be incredible. We’re singing a wide range of pieces… anything from Beethoven’s Hallelujah, to Sanctus, to Embrace Me… to It Don’t Mean a Thing if it Ain’t Got That Swing.
It’s going to be fun, and it’s going to be good music! Chapel Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. tonight — the Covenant Chorale and Chamber Singers.

April 14 and Still Snowing
I just got back from watching a bunch of the guys from my hall play outdoor intramural soccer. I made the mistake of just wearing a t-shirt… i’m having a hard time typing right now because I pretty much went numb from my elbows down to my fingers. My hands feel really heavy, and I can hardly move my fingers (and yes, the parapraph above took me about twelve minutes to write). It was snowing this morning. What’s up with that? It’s April 14th. And get this — it’s supposed to be 80 degrees tomorrow. Nothing like a 48 degree difference from what it was this morning. But I’m not complaining. It’s been so beautiful here on the mountain. The trees are starting to get green, and overall (minus today), it’s been a lot warmer and sunnier. This is our last full week of classes. It’s hard to believe. I cannot wait to be finished.

Finished and Free at Last
I just printed off my Cross Cultural Experience papers. Five papers, each one four pages in length… all written in the last two days. :)
There’s nothing like feeling the warmth of a big stack of papers hot off the printer and knowing that every word on every single page is something you wrote, even if it is just a bunch of fluff.
Procrastination at its best.

Study Study
My brain is fried and my hand hurts. I’ve been writing out all my notes, as well as a bunch of review terms, definitions, theories, etc., for my Business Management test tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. I just finished, and I have ten solid pages of small hand-writing… now I just need to pace the halls of the academic buildings and memorize them.
My head hurts. Accounting is done, but I still have Management and Finite Math to get through before I can breathe again.
I’m excited to sleep tonight.

Integrity Above Reputation
I struggled a lot with my reputation and the reputation of my family growing up… My family, particularly my parents, were well-respected in the church and overseas as missionaries. Everyone liked my family, and people would always comment on how “well-behaved” my brothers and sisters were. I guess you could say we had the “perfect” family. I struggled a lot with that. I thought that I had to live up to this reputation that my family supposedly had… no one was allowed to see my faults, my struggles, my downfalls. What would that do for the reputation of my family?
