Alleia Restaurant

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

Mary Frances and I went out on a date tonight. I hadn’t taken her out in a long time, so I told her to save Friday night for me in her schedule. I didn’t tell her where we were going or what we were doing… the element of surprise added a little bit of excitement! We first went to Alleia’s on W. Main street. It’s an Italian-ish place – great, candle lit atmosphere, and phenomenal food. I had the grilled quail breasts with charred roasted tomatoes, and MF had the wood-smoked pork tenderloin with a brown sugar glaze. Accompanied with bread and dipping oil, it was fantastic. The service was also great – the bread basket stayed full, and my glass was always 3/4 full at least. Great place.

Alleia's Restaurant on W. Main Street

After dinner, MF and I opted to get dessert at the Ice Cream Show down by the walking bridge. We split a coffee/toffee ice cream bowl. Mmmm, so good. After that, we drove back up the mountain and went to the Rock City Christmas lights which was also amazing. We spent a good two hours walking around and enjoying the lights and the views. Beautiful night.

Coolidge Park

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

I went down to Coolidge Park with some friends today. It was so beautiful outside! It felt like the first real day of spring. We went to Qdoba’s Mexican Grill, grabbed some food, and then hung out in the park for a long time.. throwing frisbees, taking naps on the lawn, talking, and just enjoying the weekend. After a while, we walked across the walking bridge and went to the Hunter Museum of American Art across the river. It’s free on the first Sunday of every month — definitely an awesome and worthwhile place to visit if you ever come into Chattanooga.

Anyway, my hall and I are heading to someone’s house for a Superbowl party. I’m pretty excited!

Rock City Christmas Lights

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Rock City is so beautiful right now. They have the whole place decorated in Christmas lights, and it looks amazing. I went with a couple other friends on Friday night. We left around 8:00 p.m. and spent three hours walking around, looking at the beautiful lights, enjoying hot chocolate, and spending time together. You can see the white deer that Rock City has as well – nevermind the caves, tunnels, and rock formations that Rock City is known for. It’s definitely one of the more famous attractions of Lookout Mountain, and it is definitely worth going to. The Rock City Starbucks is right across the road too…

Places To Be in Chattanooga

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

Ok, I think I might start a series of posts about different places on the mountain and down in Chattanooga that are great places to spend time… Lookout has some amazing places in and of itself that are definitely worth going to. To name but a few – Cloudland Canyon, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Little River Canyon, the Rock City Starbucks (I’m there all the time), the gas station on the mountain (place to be – you can get little pints of mayfield ice cream for $0.99), the park (can’t remember what it’s called), Fairyland neighborhood (just a beautiful place to go for a walk), and all sorts of other amazing places…

I’ll get on that.. and tell you more specifics about each one.
