My Story
So what’s my story? I don’t really know where to begin with that. It’s a pretty loaded question, and it really depends on how deep you want me to go… for right now, I’ll just stick to the basics.
My name is Philip Codington. I am currently a freshman at Covenant College. I am studying to do physical therapy at the moment… so I’m definitely getting in a lot of biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, and all that fun stuff. Someday I want to have my own practice… probably in the pediatric or young adult branch of physical therapy.
I was born in Knoxville, TN on August 5, 1988. That’s where everything really began… I lived there with my parents and three older brothers and sisters. When I was two and a half years old, my parents started thinking about going to the mission field overseas. We moved to Philadelphia, PA and lived there for a year and a half while my parents began to plan a move to a small compound in southern France, near the small town of Montelimar. Shortly after my fourth birthday, we moved to France…
We lived in France for three years. My dad diligently worked in the Christian book industry. His heart’s desire and hope was (and still is to this day) to reach the unreached with Christian literature. After three years of living in France as missionaries, my dad was called to Sheffield, England to work in the main international office of a Christian literature company (CLC).
So… in 1995, shortly before I turned seven years old, we moved yet again. Sheffield was a relatively big, but beautiful city in the middle of the British isles. It became my home in 1995… and remained my home until 2005, ten years later. September 23, 2005 — my family finally moved back to our home in America.
That was a little over a year ago. It’s December 11 of 2006 now. My parents and five younger siblings are all living in Franklin, TN. My older brother, Wim, is engaged to Libby… he’s living in Nashville, TN and getting excited about being a married man as of June 3, 2007. My oldest sister, Julie, is also living in Nashville while attending Vanderbilt Nursing School. She is also a bride-to-be… and will be married to my future brother-in-law Nick Muckerman on March 3, 2007. My older sister, Betsy, is a junior here at Covenant College… also studying to do physical therapy. I’m sure she’ll find a guy to settle down with one of these days…
As for me, I’m just beginning one of the most exciting times of my life. In two days, I will have successfully finished my first semester at Covenant College. I’m heading down the road towards a profession in physical therapy… but mostly, I’m just a piece of pottery still being molded by the Almighty. God is good….
