Cold

So I am sitting here with a sweater, coat, and scarf… and still freezing my royal behind off. I just got back from having waffles at the Anderson’s house. They had a fire going, along with the football game - New York vs. Green Bay. It was nice to just sit in a home and relax for a while.

I miss home. Carrie, Johnny, Peter, Davy, Marianna - if you guys are reading this.. I miss you guys. Tell Mom to save me some of those French crepes when she gets back.

Church at New City was really good this morning. The pastor preached from Colossians 3:1-11… about being dead to sin and alive in Christ.

He used a really good illustration about when he was in elementary school. He said there was this bully who would push him to the ground every day during recess. Every day when the bell went off, the bully would be waiting there to push him into the ground again. Then one day, he realized that he weighed 100 lbs, while the bully was a mere 60 lbs (I don’t know how you can not NOT notice that… but hey). From that day on, the bully never pushed him around again. My pastor related that to us and our constant struggle with sin and Satan - we allow sin to dictate our lives. We allow Satan to control us and push us around, when in reality, we have someone so much more powerful and mighty on our side! It’s so true… I forget that Christ is in me, and I can put off my old self and live a life fulfilled in Christ.
