Summer Summary
It’s been a good long summer… I need to offer an apology for not writing on here as often as I would have liked or as often as I should have. I am spending the week at Smith Mountain Lake outside of Roanoke, VA at the moment… my mom’s side of the family is having another one of our yearly family reunions. It’s been a beautiful break from life in general. I’ve had the opportunity to sit, journal, watch some stupid shows on tv, take pictures, take late night swims with my cousins (didn’t get to bed until 2:00 a.m. last night … which is late considering i’ve gone to bed by 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. every other night this summer), play kickball with about 20 of my little cousins in the blazing sun, and drink natural root beer while talking about cars with my granddad - the former Calculus professor at Covenant, known as Dr. Schaffers. :) It’s been a good week, to say the least.
In another five days or so, I will be heading back up the mountain to start the fall semester of my sophomore year. I’m excited to be back on the mountain. I’m working on the orientation team, so I have to be at school early… the 13th, to be exact. But i’m ready to be back, especially with my brothers on the Five Points.
As far as the rest of summer goes, I spent two months working as an SC boy (senior counselor) at Camp Westminster… right outside of Atlanta, GA. It was a hard, long, exhausting, but beautiful summer. I have plenty of stories to tell - too many to put up here. But just know that it was a summer in which I saw God work in amazingly. I was blessed to be there.
