Dorm Life

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Someone asked me to describe what dorm life at Covenant is like. I’m sorry I’m a little late in actually writing a post about it… it’s been a busy couple of weeks as I have been wrapping up the semester with papers and exams.

So what are the dorms like? What is dorm life like? Where to begin…

I guess I’ll start with the fact that a new residence hall is currently under construction. It is actually being built where Blood Field (the old parking lot) used to stand, right next to Maclellan Hall. I can’t remember exactly when they started, but the actual construction only started around Christmas. It’s April now, and the entire structure has been put up. They’re beginning to work on putting up dry wall, stone, and the roof (as of two or three days ago). It’s pretty exciting! If everything goes to plan, people will be moving in the new dorm (which is yet to be named) by the fall semester of 2007.

As for the rest of campus, for those of you who don’t know, there are three residence halls. Carter Hall is the oldest one. It actually used to be the old hotel building before Covenant was founded in 1955. Though I have never actually lived in it before, i’ve been told that it has a lot of character. There are a lot of really awesome halls – namely, 2nd South and 2nd Central (but hey, i’m just biased :). Before I moved to the Five Points (in Maclellan), I was going to be on either 2nd South or 2nd Central. Click to continue »
