Mystery Date with 3rd North
So it’s totally Monday afternoon right now, and I am totally going to write about what I did on Saturday night… because it’s Monday, and all I have done that is noteworthy is go to my usually classes.
But Saturday night? Now, that’s a different story… read on, my friends.
It all starts back about a week or two ago. It was any ordinary day in which I was heading to the mail room to check my mail. I opened up my box and pulled out a letter addressed to me. I knew it wasn’t personal - first off, they mispelled my name, and second, it was printed. I mean, come on? Who prints you a letter?
I opened it up, and it started with the words (something along these lines), “3rd North would like to invite you to a Mystery Date on Saturday night…” I kind of half smiled and then looked over at my roommates who had gotten the same invitation.
So just to skip over all the details and fastforward a few days… the purpose of the “Mystery Date” is that it is a mystery for the girl, but the guy knows who he is taking. I knew who I was taking to the Mystery Date (and it was going to beĀ fun - it was just one of my good friends from Carter… no pressure, no awkwardness, just fun!), but as far as I knew, she didn’t know. Then a few days later (sometime last week), I was studying in the Biology lab with her and a few other people. We were talking, and then she just asks me, “So Philip, are you looking forward to bowling on Saturday with the Mystery Date thing going on?”
I kind of stuttered… and then was like, “Yeah, I am. It’s going to be fun.” I quickly tried to change the subject to the genetics and biology we were studying.
She kind of laughed and said, “It’s ok, Philip. I already know.” It was kind of a bummer, but at the same time it was cool just because we then planned to go with my roommate and his date… so it would just be fun to all hang out.
Saturday quickly came, and we were all emailed a change in plans for the Mystery Date. In order to keep it low cost, we decided to go on a scavenger hunt around Chattanooga. We all got into groups of four and had a list of 16 things to get and bring back to campus. The first one back with the most things won.
It was awesome… we all left, spent two hours driving around Chattanooga and Hamilton Place Mall doing a scavenger hunt, and then we came back and spent the rest of the evening just hanging out and meeting new people. It’s amazing how you still meet people here after two semesters that you’ve never seen or met before. It was good to meet new people and just have a relaxing night. Good times… :)

Glad you had fun! Sorry you were bummed about it being not-such-a-surprise, but word gets around fast on such a small campus ;)
